This is a commissioned piece I completed for Sixty Vines, a spectacular wine country-inspired restaurant located in Foggy Bottom, DC. I created it using recycled wine corks provided by Sixty Vines, to depict the Capitol Building in D.C. The finished artwork measures 4 feet square.

“Working with Shona was seamless from start to finish. Through excellent communication and collaborative design ideation, she delivered a truly unique piece that captured every essence we envisioned. The intricacies tell a compelling story when you gaze upon the artwork, perfectly aligning with our brand. Thank you once again, Shona, for such an incredible piece.”

Beautiful work! I asked her to create a flying fish mosaic and the final piece is amazing! I could not be happier!”

“After living for 18 years in Vienna (and lots of dog walking), I knew the houses and streets very well.  I put one of the homes on a regular route because of the stunning mosaics on display in the front yard and near the mailbox.  When we moved to DC, I was thrilled to discover the artist herself lived there, and that she accepted commissioned projects.  Shona is that artist, and she delivered the most incredible, beautiful mosaic street number, setting the tone for our ‘new’ home (which was built in 1910).

Shona and I worked together to design something personal — with dogwoods harkening our time in Virginia, and specific shades of the colors my family likes best.  Shona was detailed in sizing and proportion.  For three years now, many neighbors (and casual walkers-by) have complimented our street number.  It is such a gorgeous and personal touch!  I loved having that sidewalk appeal intact when we did a big renovation and the inside of the house was a disaster.  Walking up to my front gate, I always know that I’m home with this personal object d’art welcoming me!
